'Taki & Lord Gage' - watercolour painted in quite a loose style.

For this unusual commission I originally only intended to paint Taki the parrot, but became interested  by the two contrasting profiles so included Taki's owner (and good friend). The painting was very well received despite my slight trepidation!

Pure watercolour on Arches hot-pressed paper - around 16"x12".

'They Also Serve...' - pencil drawing.

Drawn for a lover of donkeys. The title comes from Milton's beautiful sonnet 'When I Consider How My Light is Spent'. The last line reads 'They also serve who only stand and wait'

Drawn in pencil (2H - 8B) on slightly textured  cartridge paper. Size 16" x 12"

' Spencer' - pencil drawing

I really like the eccentric black and white pattern and intense gaze of this much-loved pet. Based on a picture taken by myself in Spencer's garden. It often takes a while (and many photos) to get the perfect pose.

Drawn in pencil (2H - 8B) on pure white Bristol paper.

Size 12" x 10"

'Black Leghorn Bantam' - watercolour

This magnificent bird was the winner of it's group at the National Poultry Fair. Painted for its proud owner. I love painting and drawing fancy fowl and sometimes take a stall at this fair. I have recently been privileged to help illustrate a book on exotic chickens.

Painted in pure watercolour on smooth Arches hot-pressed paper. Size 16" x 12".

Race Horse- pencil drawing

Race horses are such beautiful intelligent creatures and I love drawing and painting them. This is a classic 3/4 view portrait which always works well but I often try and find something a little different. It all depends on the photos I take or are sent to me.

Drawn in pencil (2H - 8B) on pure white Bristol paper. Size 10" x 12".

'Dapple Grey Pony'

Like a living rocking horse! It was a pleasure to draw this splendid animal.

Drawn in pencil (2H - 8B) on slightly textured  cartridge paper. Size 16" x 12"
